Why Custom Photography?

It takes more than just a camera to create the perfect balance between art and business. Custom photography is just that- A CUSTOM experience, created to you and your unique style and personality. Every image that I produce is created with hours of preparation before, during and after your session. This often means time away from my own family, or very late night hours, spent working on making your images as perfect as I can get them. Each piece of photographic art is a culmination of thousands of hours (and dollars) worth of education and equipment to create, edit, and store these special keepsakes.

There are also many costs involved with running a legal and legitimate business; continuing education, hosting, equipment, supplies, props, marketing, taxes, and more. All session fees for Rey of Light packages have been carefully calculated to take all the above facets, as well as other aspects of custom photography, into consideration.*

*Rey of Light is currently operating under a "portfolio building" status. This means that current pricing/packages will change, as Rey of Light grows and begins operating on a larger scale. In order to keep up with the demands of an expanding business, prices will eventually have to increase. So please, enjoy the "portfolio building" prices while you can, and be one of the firsts to help Rey of Light grow and fulfill her dream!

What to wear

Stay as true to yourself as you possibly can! I want you to be comfortable, but looking your best!
Here are my best tips/suggestions for what to wear in a photo-shoot:
Wear color! Color draws in the eye and makes the photos pop!
Don't feel pressured to make everyone match! Pull color from one another instead. If you've already bought those matching sweaters, try mixing everyone up with different accessories, to keep one's individuality shining through!
Try not to wear anything with large logos on them! They are distracting and take away from the person starring in the photos.
Try layering your clothing with different textile types. Texture looks great in photos!

Don't be afraid to accessorize! Hats, scarves, jewelry, boots, heels, jackets, sweaters, pins, gloves, flowers and hairpieces are always sure to create a fresh and exciting look!

If you are attending a High School Senior Session, you may want to also bring any memorabilia, musical instruments, sports uniforms/equipment, or anything that you love, and would want incorporated into your photos.
The same applies for children. Parents may want to bring favorite stuffed animals, toys or even blankets. Not only will they sooth the child, but they may look cute in the photo with them!

Lastly, but importantly, bring Chapstick! Or lip gloss, or Carmex, or whatever your lip moisturizer of choice is. Nothing looks yucky like dry chapped lips. We want healthy, happy smiles!

How it works

I will get back to as soon as I can, with a list of available dates and times for you to choose from.
Once I have you scheduled, I will be in contact with you via email, or if you choose, in person, so I can get a feel for your particular style and personality. This will help me come up with ideas for a special photo-shoot, that is custom to you!
Next we will meet at the agreed upon location, where we will sign a couple of forms/waivers, before we get to the fun part of shooting your session.
You can choose to pay the complete session fee at this time. Or, you can choose to pay half now, and the other half before you receive your images. Please keep in mind, I must receive the total payment for your session before I deliver, or mail out your images. If you choose to order add-on items such as prints, announcements, gallery wraps/canvases or albums, payment is due at the time of ordering.
Please allow at least 2-3 weeks for the editing and processing of your images. I will contact you to let you know when they are on their way!
You will receive your custom image CD in Rey of Light's special boutique packaging, along with some information on where to get great quality prints for reasonable prices, ideas on how to display your images, and a little thank you treat from Rey!
